Docs? DMs? Doc Martens? Whatever you call them, Dr Martens boots and shoes have been an iconic part of youth culture for decades, and their story began way back in 1901. The Griggs family were making a name for themselves by making sturdy, durable work boots in the English countryside. They decided to revolutionise the shoes they were making by incorporating an air-cushioned sole invented by a German entrepreneur and then began manufacturing the classic eight-holed 1460 Dr Martens boot in 1960. This is the boot we all know and love today, and continues to be the brand’s best selling style.
